The furniture that I produce is all about image. It conveys a sense of order. It is both complicated and simple at the same time. I use mathematics to achieve the aesthetics desired. Most of my designs have evolved over time. One of the beauties of being a builder/designer is that I can make adjustments in the design as I go along.
The furniture that I make is produced one piece at a time. The only exception is when I make matched sets. Production will always be low; it takes a long time to produce furniture with such high part counts.
Most of the furniture that I make is of domestic wood such as cherry, walnut and oak. I have made a few pieces from Brazilian cherry and African mahogany. I have mixed feelings about using non domestic woods since I don’t know if responsible forest management has been maintained. I also use polycarbonate, urethane, steel and stainless steel. These are time tested materials known for their toughness.
When you sit in one of my chairs I hope that it makes you feel important. I think the world would be a better place if people, within reason, felt more important.
